LUC highly commended at the John Connell Awards 2025

LUC has been highly commended at this year’s John Connell Awards, known as the ‘Noise Oscars’.

The award recognises our work with Natural Resources Wales and Noise Consultants Limited on Tranquillity and Place – A National Resource for Wales.

A group of six people stand together smiling and holding an award at an event hosted by the Noise Abatement Society. They are dressed in business attire and posed in front of a purple-lit backdrop displaying the society’s logo and website.

The project created a nationally consistent dataset that maps and assesses tranquil areas across Wales. It combines acoustic principles, visual assessment, and stakeholder engagement to create an evidence-based resource that supports policy, planning, and environmental decision-making.

The resource enhances soundscapes, promotes sustainable land management, and builds public awareness of the value of quiet spaces. The Welsh Government has integrated the data into reporting and planning processes, helping to support healthier, more sustainable, and economically vibrant communities.

Gloria Elliott OBE, Chief Executive of the Noise Abatement Society, said:

“Recognising the importance for communities to enjoy tranquil areas has now been supported by this dataset mapping, a great resource for the Welsh Government – well done to Natural Resources Wales, Noise Consultants Limited and LUC.”
