Jon Grantham joins Cotswolds National Landscape Board

We’re proud to share that former LUC Managing Director Jon Grantham will join the Cotswolds National Landscape Board as a Secretary of State-appointed Board member.

Mary Creagh, the Minister for Nature, made the appointment.

The Cotswolds National Landscape is one of England’s most cherished protected areas, covering nearly 800 square miles of countryside and welcoming millions of visitors each year.

Its Board was established by Parliamentary Order in 2004, and has 37 Board members drawn from local authorities, parish councils, and appointments made by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

As a Board member, Jon will help guide the organisation’s work on nature recovery, climate action, community engagement and greater countryside access.

The role involves helping the Board achieve its statutory purposes: to conserve and enhance the area’s natural beauty, and to increase public understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities.

Jon brings a deep understanding of planning, placemaking and sustainability, built over decades at LUC.

His experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and engaging with local and national stakeholders will support the Cotswold National Landscape team’s wide-ranging goals.

“I’m honoured to take on this role. I care deeply about the Cotswolds and the wider mission of our protected landscapes. I look forward to supporting the team in its work on nature recovery, climate resilience and inclusive access to the countryside.”

Jon’s appointment reflects the government’s aim to bring diverse skills and fresh voices to the leadership of protected landscapes.

Secretary of State Members play a vital role in helping these places meet the challenges of our time.

We’re delighted to see Jon continue to contribute to the future of landscapes, people and nature.
