SP Energy Networks submits Kendoon to Tongland Reinforcement Project S37 applications
The Scottish Government has registered the five section-37 applications for the Kendoon to Tongland Reinforcement Project.
ScottishPower Energy Networks (SPEN) commissioned LUC to undertake a routeing study and EIA of the ‘The KTR Project’ which comprises proposals to reinforce the electricity transmission network between Kendoon and Tongland, in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland.
Five separate applications cover the installation of the new overhead lines and the removal of the existing overhead lines which are being replaced. This resulted in a complex assessment process, supported by LUC’s Planning, Ecology, Landscape Planning and GIS & Visualisation teams, with the findings reported in a single EIA Report.
LUC’s environmental planners managed the routeing process which was led by our landscape architects and culminated in the identification of a proposed route for the 47.8km of 132kV new overhead lines.
This is a significant milestone for the project which began in 2014.
A statutory consultation is now underway on the applications which will run until 13 November.
