LUC attends LI’s Landscape for Scotland event
This week, the Landscape Institute Scotland (LIS) hosted an event at the Scottish Parliament for the launch of its vision document ‘Landscape For Scotland’.
LUC Landscape Architects Sam Oxley, Martin Tabor, Duncan McLean and Dan Walker attended the event along with approximately 100 other guests from across the landscape profession, other professional organisations, the Scottish Government, local authorities, NGOs and Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs).
The event sought to showcase the work of landscape professionals and encourage better collaboration across professions, in order to influence national and local government policy and help shape quality in landscape and placemaking in Scotland.
Landscape for Scotland sets out a shared vision and action plan for helping shape world-class places in Scotland, and LUC is delighted to support this ethos and ambition, and will strive to ensure that landscape and placemaking is at the forefront of policy making decisions in relation to health, prosperity and climate change, whilst championing the role of landscape professionals in providing innovative solutions to the many challenges faced by government, local authorities, communities and developers alike.
LUC’s Duncan McLean said: “I was honoured to be at the Scottish Parliament for the launch of ‘Landscape for Scotland’ along with so many professional colleagues. The talented bunch at LIS have done the landscape profession proud in the production of this significant document. ‘Landscape for Scotland’ succinctly captures the importance of the Scottish landscape and the various threats it faces.
“It also outlines how landscape professionals can help address these challenges and play a vital role in ensuring Scotland’s landscape continues to make a positive contribution to the nation’s identity, economy, and health and well-being. I hope that the current and any future Scottish Government takes note. May I congratulate all involved.”
