LUC preparing landscape scheme for proposed Wakehurst nursery
LUC is working on all landscape issues for the proposed Research and Conversation Nursery at Wakehurst in West Sussex. The proposed Nursery will replace existing facilities currently within the Walled Garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew site at Wakehurst.
LUC’s Landscape Design team is supporting the planning application, alongside Grimshaw Architects, with a landscape scheme and Design Review Panel consultations.
The new purpose-built facilities will provide a range of environs required for the various research and horticultural projects Kew undertakes. This will include several large-span greenhouses with varying levels of compartmentalisation and control for growing conditions.
This work extends upon Royal Botanic Gardens Kew’s strategic vision to elevate its offer at Wakehurst with a focus on ‘Science and Education’. Kew’s investment in its science and horticultural facilities enables this vision for the ageing greenhouses and plant nursery.
