The works to improve the south courtyard at Levita House, London have now begun on site. LUC is the landscape architect for the project. We have been working with Camden and local residents from the early concepts through to detailed designs.
Levita House is the largest block in the Ossulston Estate, one of the London County Council’s major inner city slum clearance developments in the inter-war period. It is located in Somers Town, north of Euston Road on Chalton Street, shared by LUC’s London office.
During the past 10-15 years, we have seen a dramatic change in Somers Town with the development of Kings Cross, high-speed rail and the Channel Tunnel, the Crick Institute and the British Library extension. Levita House has an established community that strongly identifies with the local area despite this pace of change.
The main improvements to the courtyards include new raised planting beds planted by residents alongside charity Global Generation. The project will also see new seating, an avenue of Magnolias and a new cycle shelter with a green roof.
The project is being constructed by contractor Idverde and is scheduled to complete in mid-April.
