LUC is assisting Be First in the preparation of a new Local Plan for London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

LUC’s Planning team is project managing the process. This includes scoping and review of core evidence base studies, public consultation and liaison with the Council and Planning Inspectorate.

A core team of LUC staff has been focussed on this engagement throughout 2019. As we prepare for the Regulation 19 consultation stage of the local plan preparation, we have been able to increase our resource allocation, providing support to Planning Policy, Development Management, GIS, and Ecology – all working remotely to keep the project on track and support the Be First and the Council though this time of uncertainty.

Be First is the development corporation wholly-owned by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Its mission is to accelerate the regeneration of the area.
