Today, LUC announced its financial results for the year ended 31 December 2023.
LUC reported a 20% increase in turnover for the year, reflecting a steady performance in a competitive market. Profit before taxation and profit-related pay reached £0.8million, indicating a solid financial position.
This is a testament to the company’s continued focus on delivering exceptional client service and better futures for nature, people and places.
“2023 was a year of continued commitment to our clients and our values,” said Jon Grantham, Managing Director of LUC. “We are proud of the work we accomplished alongside our clients, tackling complex land-use challenges and creating more sustainable places for the future.”
"However increased staff costs and challenging conditions in some of our markets led to a lower profit than the previous year. We felt a slowdown in certain sectors of the construction industry, as projects were impacted by factors such as rising construction costs. Public sector budget cuts and uncertainty surrounding the general election also played a part.”
LUC’s team of expert consultants delivered a wide range of services throughout the year, including strategic planning, environmental impact assessments, landscape design, and ecological recovery. The company also maintained a focus on innovation, developing new approaches to address emerging environmental challenges.
Looking forward
LUC remains optimistic about the future, with several exciting projects and initiatives on the horizon. The company is committed to investing in its people and technology to ensure its continued success and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that attracts and retains top talent.
“We are confident that our employee-owned structure and unwavering dedication to our values position us well for continued success,” said Jon Grantham. “We look forward to working with our clients to create a positive impact on the environment in the years to come.”
As the environmental consulting sector evolves, LUC is well-positioned to play a leading role in driving sustainable solutions to the climate and biodiversity crises.
