LUC completes management plan for Brighton's Royal Pavilion Garden

LUC has completed the Landscape Management and Maintenance Plan for the restoration of Brighton's Royal Pavilion Garden.

Brighton and Hove Museums submitted the plans as a part of the application for delivery phase funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The restoration project aims to revitalise the garden, which John Nash originally designed for Prince Regent. The updated design includes rejuvenated landscaping, opening up of historic vistas and upgraded visitor facilities.

Our landscape management team worked closely with Brighton and Hove Museums to ensure that key management issues like sustainability, event usage, staff and security were appropriately considered. Our work focused on setting out the overall approach to managing the landscape and all maintenance operations once restoration work begins.  This included assessing the levels of garden staff required to maintain the garden to a high standard throughout the year.

Additionally, LUC prepared a financial plan, setting out expected income, expenditure, and resourcing requirements once the capital works are complete.

LUC played a vital role in guiding the project through various challenges resulting from design changes. The new Landscape Management and Maintenance Plan will provide a key working document for the garden over the coming years.
