LUC delivers presentation on new wind energy planning requirements
Our Associate Director of Environmental Planning Sarah Young gave a presentation at the annual RTPI renewable and low carbon energy conference last month.
She focused on how local planning authorities can deliver the new planning policy requirement to identify potential areas of suitability for wind. She talked about how assessments of the technical potential for wind can be combined with landscape sensitivity assessments to identify potentially suitable areas.
This drew upon LUC’s extensive expertise on this issue, having carried out recent assessments for a number of local planning authorities across England. LUC was also involved in the preparation of the DECC methodology cited in National Planning Policy Guidance as one of the key tools for identifying suitable areas.
