LUC completes EIA for Rivox Wind Energy Hub in Dumfries & Galloway
LUC has completed the Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed Rivox Wind Energy Hub in Dumfries & Galloway.
The development comprises up to 29 wind turbines, energy storage, and associated infrastructure.
LUC worked alongside internal and external specialists. An iterative process developed the project, minimising potential effects on the environment whilst balancing technical requirements.
“As one of my first wind farm EIA project manager roles, I enjoyed the working alongside our client Belltown Power Ltd and the wider design team to guide this project through the design process and submitted to the Energy Consents Unit."
Laura McGowanAssociate Planner, LUC
If consented, the development will contribute an installed capacity of around 208.8 MW from wind energy and 90 MW of battery storage. The resulting carbon emissions will have a positive and lasting effect on the future of low-carbon electricity. The development would also see the implementation of habitat mitigation and enhancement measures developed through the Outline Restoration and Enhancement Plan (OREP) including supplementary shrub/woodland planting of key river corridors, grazing management, bog and health restoration contributing to biodiversity enhancement on the site.
The project is now live and going through the Section 36 consenting process.
