LUC helps secure consent for Polquhairn Wind Farm
LUC is delighted to have supported Brookfield Renewable UK Limited (BRUK) in securing consent to develop a new wind farm in East Ayrshire.
Polquhairn Wind Farm will have the capacity of 22.5 MW, comprising nine turbines with a generating life of up to 25 years. We assisted BRUK by carrying out a Residential Visual Amenity Study (RVAS) which looked at all properties within 2km of the project.
Our study concluded that there would be no ‘overbearing’ effects (to the extent that the property would generally become regarded as an unattractive place to live) on the residential visual amenity of any properties and the council agreed with this position.
We provided further support during planning by drafting a consultation letter in response to the council’s independent landscape architects report on the LVIA. The scheme was refused due to an aviation issue and we provided further landscape support including an updated cumulative LVIA which informed written representations during the appeal process, resulting in consent.
Further information on the development can be found here.
