LUC provides landscape planning services for Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm
LUC has provided specialist landscape planning services in support of the Section 36 application for Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm.
LUC conducted a number of landscape planning and visualisation services on behalf of BayWa r.e. UK Limited. Our teams advised on the design of the scheme, and completed the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA). The LVIA forms part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which has been submitted in support of the proposals.
Developments on the project were significantly impacted by Covid-19 restrictions during the early survey season. However, once these measures were lifted, our teams were able to work safely and effectively.
The site is located approximately 25km south of Inverness and 15km east of Invermoriston in the Scottish Highlands.
The proposed development comprises 16 wind turbines with a tip height of 149.9m, and associated infrastructure. The site will extend the existing Corriegarth Wind Farm, which contains 20 turbines with a tip height of 120m.
The indicative installed capacity of the project is approximately 76MW. This demonstrates the vital and substantial role of extending existing wind farms to meet the Scottish Government’s Energy and Climate Change targets.
The application was submitted to the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit (ECU) under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989. As the proposals are for a project greater than 50MW, Scottish Ministers are responsible for determining the application. The EIA will also be considered by statutory consultees over the coming months.
