LUC’s proposal shortlisted on Developer’s Radical Rethink call for ideas
We are proud to announce that our ‘Readjusting the Boundaries’ proposal to the Developer’s Radical Rethink call for ideas has been shortlisted.
The six shortlisted proposal creators have been invited to present their ideas to a panel of experts in two live virtual events. Our Director and Associate of Landscape Architecture, Tina Muldowney and Lucy Tate, will present our proposal at the first Festival of Place Bytesize event this week.
The Developer’s Radical Rethink call for ideas asked for proposals that could revolutionise public spaces through any means such as policy, design or research with an aim to make them “more resilient and productive, ecological, promote health and wellbeing, increase a sense of agency or belonging, become educational, increase access or promote inclusivity”.
Our proposal is about rethinking the traditional ‘redline’ approach within a planning application and considering a more permeable boundary or zone of influence as a material consideration during the planning process. We have suggested that all new developments must show a relationship with their context by considering opportunities for people and wildlife within a minimum of 25-50% expansion of the boundary (depending on scale of development).
