LUC provides training on ‘setting’ for National Trust
Kate Ahern, LUC’s Director of Landscape Planning and Diana Manson, LUC’s Head of GIS and Visualisation delivered training on setting and significance for the National Trust last week. Participants included Land Use Planning Advisors and Conservation Data Managers.
Kate presented the ‘Toolkit’ we prepared for the Trust, which shows how to think about setting and surroundings beyond the boundaries of their properties. This will help the Trust to manage change in ways that conserve and enhance the significance of the place.
Diana discussed techniques to help understand change including preparation of zones of theoretical visibility (ZTV), visualisations, modelling change and view analysis as well as tranquillity and dark skies mapping.
The session built on our previous work in preparing settings studies for various properties. It was a lively day of discussion and debate about this topical subject.
