LUC seeks consent for up to 15 turbines at Dunside Wind Farm
LUC recently submitted the Section 36 application for Dunside Wind Farm in the Scottish Borders on behalf of EDF Renewables. The proposals seek consent for up to 15 turbines, each with a maximum tip height of 220m with associated infrastructure and battery storage.
LUC utilised our internal experts in the fields of Environmental Impact Assessment, landscape and visual impact assessment, ecology, cultural heritage, GIS and visualisations alongside external specialists to undertake an EIA and prepare the Environmental Impact Assessment Report to support the application to the Energy Consents Unit.
The proposals include the preparation of an Outline Restoration and Enhancement Plan (OREP) which seeks to provide a holistic framework for the enhancement of the development site with respect to biodiversity, peat resource and landscape and visual amenity. These enhancement works would be delivered over and above the mitigation proposed to address the development's predicted effects.
If consented, the wind farm would contribute an installed capacity of up to 108 MW from wind energy and 20 MW from the battery storage; contributing to the Scottish Government’s net zero greenhouse gas emissions targets.
