LUC shortlisted for the World Landscape Architecture Awards 2025
The winners of the World Landscape Architecture Awards 2025 have been announced, and we are delighted that LUC's Glasgow Claypits was shortlisted in the Built Sustainability & Resilience category, alongside many outstanding projects around the world. It is an honour for LUC to receive recognition on the global stage.

This year’s awards received over 300 entries from more than 30 countries, making the shortlist a competitive and meaningful recognition. The Built Sustainability & Resilience category honours projects that deliver outstanding environmental stewardship, innovative design solutions and resilient community outcomes.

About the Glasgow-Claypits project
LUC’s nomination in the Built Sustainability & Resilience category is for its transformative work on Glasgow-Claypits. Located in the heart of Glasgow, this project has regenerated 17 hectares of post-industrial, contaminated land (formerly designated as vacant and derelict) into the city’s only inner-city Local Nature Reserve.
The masterplan integrates sustainable drainage as part of Glasgow’s Smart Canal scheme, alongside new walking and cycling routes, bridges and boardwalks that improve connectivity across the city. Rich in biodiversity, the Claypits now provides a mosaic of habitats, from meadows to wetlands, creating space for wildlife and people alike.
Extensive community engagement shaped the project from the outset, ensuring it reflects local needs and aspirations. Today, it serves as a safe, inclusive destination for recreation, education and wellbeing, benefiting thousands of residents within walking distance.
