LUC submits consent application for Teviot Wind Farm
LUC has completed the submission of a Section 36 application for consent for Teviot Wind Farm. We submitted the application to Scottish Ministers on behalf of Teviot WF Ltd, a subsidiary of Muirhall Energy Ltd.
About the project
The Site is located approximately 8 kilometres (km) to the south-west of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. The proposals are for up to 62 wind turbines with tip heights varying from 180m to 240m, a solar array, battery storage and other ancillary infrastructure.
LUC supported the client with a range of specialist services, including EIA project management, landscape and visual and residential visual amenity assessment. We also provided ecological input in the form of bat surveys and assessment, and delivered a bespoke virtual consultation platform.
Part of this exciting commission also involved the preparation of a Vision Statement for Landscape, Ecological and Access Enhancement to support the application. This statement sets out the Applicant’s aspirations for landscape scale habitat and access enhancement across the site, including peatland restoration, new native riparian woodland creation. These enhancements will improve conditions for waders and expand the local path network, thereby providing long-term benefits to both people and the natural environment.
Quote from the client
Muirhall Energy Project Manager, Jamie Leslie, said the following about LUC’s involvement in the project:
“It has been great to work with LUC on this exciting and complex application. The team’s expertise and attention to detail has been integral to the project, and they have played a huge role in hopefully delivering an estimated 443MW of renewable energy generation to Scotland. I would like to thank everyone in the team for their hard work and I look forward to working with LUC again soon”.
Climate action at LUC
With Scottish climate change targets looming in 2030, onshore wind projects of this nature and scale will have an increasingly important role in helping Scotland to decarbonise its energy supply.
LUC is well-placed to provide expert EIA and Planning services for renewables projects of all sizes. We also continue to make meaningful contributions to net zero transition across the full range of our multi-disciplinary services.
