LUC provides heritage support for Leaside Area Action Plan
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets recently commissioned LUC to support its Area Action Plan (AAP) for the Leaside area of East London.
LUC prepared a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) for the 2-stage project. Our assessment supplements the Integrated Impact Assessment of the wider Area Action Plan.
The HIA forms part of the evidence base for Tower Hamlets’ proposals for site allocations in the AAP. In doing so, it assesses the likely effects of development at the sites on the historic environment.
It also identifies potential adverse effects and makes recommendations for sustainable development. This will help to avoid and minimise any potential harm that the development poses.
Responses to the document noted its exemplary accessible reporting, which conforms with public sector Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
LUC’s work on the Heritage Impact Assessment is now complete. The Area Action Plan itself is now out to consultation: https://talk.towerhamlets.gov.uk/leasideplan
