LUC Winter Newsletter 2021
The global pandemic response has been reliant on accurate and timely data. As a result, our collective interest in data, dashboards and statistics has grown exponentially.
Alongside this, the pandemic has made us very aware of the importance of place. Understanding where something is happening shapes a local response and has a regional impact.
Data and place will also be critical in our response to the challenges of climate change. Adding location information to carbon emissions data allows us to develop a targeted response.
Last year, LUC signed up to ‘Pledge to Net Zero’, recognising the role that we need to play in the transition to a Net Zero carbon economy. This has reinforced our need for creative, long term solutions based on robust data and evidence.
The issue of climate change is not a distinct or bolt-on theme in our work, but an inherent consideration in all we do. In recognition of its urgency, climate change is our theme for this season’s newsletter.
