National Seascape Assessment for Wales published
We are delighted that Natural Resource Wales has published our National Seascape Assessment for Wales.
This exciting work identifies and describes 29 Marine Character Areas (MCAs), providing the strategic spatial evidence on seascapes to inform the Wales National Marine Plan, currently being prepared by the Welsh Government.
LUC’s approach is compatible with our pioneering seascape assessment work in England for the Marine Management Organisation, including ensuring cross-boundary integration with the North West marine planning region. We provided descriptive profiles for each MCA, along with an accompanying technical report including recommendations for future local seascape character assessments. As part of the project our GIS team developed innovative Visual Resource Mapping to illustrate the important visual relationships between land and sea.
