Natural England appoints LUC to deliver Landscape Character Assessment for 'The Lost Wetlands'
Natural England has commissioned LUC to undertake a Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) for 'The Lost Wetlands'.
The work will provide an understanding of the variety of landscapes within the project area to the south and west of Manchester.

About the project
This area's characteristic wetland habitats have experienced a significant decline due to development, agricultural intensification and peat extraction.
LUC's landscape planners will work closely with in-house GIS specialists to gather and analyse landscape evidence.
The assessment will provide an evidence base and guidance to feed into future nature recovery and biodiversity net gain projects to contribute to the restoration of the Lost Wetlands.

Other work with Natural England
LUC continues to support Natural England’s ambitious forward-looking landscape programme, including ongoing projects to digitise the National Character Area profiles, and an interactive mapping tool to help identify areas for potential National Parks or AONBs.
LUC has also conducted research for Natural England on future coastal landscape approaches, landscape and nature recovery and landscape planning strategies for woodland.
