Works commence on-site for Black Rock, Brighton
The next phase of the Black Rock project on Brighton Sea Front is starting on site. LUC is providing landscape services for the transformation.
Black Rock is an ambitious landscape design project bringing accessibility improvements, heritage restoration, urban design, and ecology benefits to regenerate a forgotten corner of Brighton Seafront into a development plot for the future.
Our landscape designers are working on building the link between Black Rock and the Brighton Marina Complex. It involves breaking through 1960s concrete infrastructure of flyovers, underpasses, and steep footpath networks to provide a level access footpath and cycle route. It will also connect Roedean and the Undercliff Walk with Madeira Drive and Brighton Seafront to simplify the connection.
LUC will also create a series of public realm spaces and play opportunities linking to the Black Rock temporary events space to help regenerate this neglected corner of Brighton.
Works are also progressing with the listed Reading Room and Temple buildings restoration from derelict shells to their former glory. The sites will provide a hospitality offer to further attract people to the Black Rock area.
