LUC helps Oxford City Local Plan gain approval from Inspectors
The Oxford City Local Plan has been found sound by Inspectors after close involvement from LUC. This makes way for the approval of 11,000 homes including the release of eight Green Belt sites.
LUC’s Planning team was involved in the preparation of the Plan and undertook a Green Belt Assessment of the sites proposed for release. This was supplemented by an additional study looking at the opportunities to enhance the remaining Green Belt land. We are particularly pleased to read in the Inspector’s report that they found the Green Belt work ‘convincing’.
LUC has now completed Green Belt studies for over 45 authorities across England, in addition to studies looking at how any land remaining in the Green Belt can be enhanced for access, recreation, landscape and biodiversity. This ties in closely with work for numerous local authorities preparing Green Infrastructure Strategies.
