LUC gives Peabody horticultural training for Southmere, Thamesmead public realm
LUC’s Landscape Architects, Katie Duff and Momo Sun recently delivered horticultural training at our award-winning public realm improvements in Southmere, Thamesmead.
The Environmental Service team at Peabody, our client on the scheme, attended alongside Public Realm and Landscape Manager, Desiree Shepherd.
Katie and Momo spoke to Peabody’s maintenance teams, offering insight into how the design scheme evolved and its key components. They discussed the planting design, focussing on the ambitions herbaceous scheme and its spring maintenance regime.
Peabody’s workforce completed a maintenance course at Capel Manor College before LUC handed over the scheme. This upskilled the team to ensure the ongoing successful establishment of the planting.
We volunteered our time to deliver this training in line with LUC’s CSER Policy. Employees are encouraged to take paid leave for activities that improve society, protect the environment, and contribute toward sustainable development over and above main business activities.
We look forward to holding another site session to review the autumn/winter maintenance regime.
