LUC secures planning permission for Rowardennan visitor site masterplan
LUC is pleased to have secured planning permission on behalf of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park for a masterplan to enhance the popular Rowardennan visitor site on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond.

The approved proposals will improve visitor experience and site management through a range of carefully considered interventions. These include upgrades to the existing facilities building, a new toilet block and shore shelter, a revised car parking circulation strategy with a new shuttle bus stop, formalised recreation opportunities, and the creation of two natural play areas featuring interpretive elements.

Rooted in the principles of sustainable tourism, the design also unlocks opportunities for significant biodiversity enhancements. These include restoration of the woodland understorey, creation of a new woodland wetland, proactive woodland management with the removal of inappropriate species, and the introduction of green roofs to expand plant cover on new structures.

The masterplan aligns with the National Park’s Strategic Tourism Infrastructure Development Study, supporting climate-conscious design, nature restoration, improved accessibility and more sustainable approaches to visitor travel and site dispersal.
We’re proud to be supporting the National Park in delivering high-quality, inclusive and resilient infrastructure that protects and celebrates this iconic landscape.
The project was developed in collaboration with O’Donnell Brown Architects, Blyth & Blyth Consulting Engineers, Armour Construction Consultants and Applied Ecology.
