LUC signs Pledge to Net Zero commitment
LUC has confirmed its efforts to reducing carbon emissions by signing up to ‘Pledge to Net Zero’.
The campaign requires science-based targets from its signatories to tackle greenhouse gas emissions within their organisations.
The pledge recognises the need for organisations from the environmental services sector to take a leadership role in the transition to a Net Zero carbon economy.
LUC currently has a net carbon footprint, after carbon offsetting, of 330 tonnes across its six offices. Our main carbon reduction measures to date have centred around:
- installation of LED and smart occupancy-detection lighting;
- investment in energy-efficient IT infrastructure and appliances;
- extensive use of video conferencing to avoid business travel;
- a business travel policy that centres around public transport options and promotes walking and cycling where possible;
- a green procurement policy that favours low-or-zero carbon suppliers of goods and services;
- minimising purchases and purchasing environmentally-high-performing goods such as those with high recycled content.
Join us and make the pledge.
