RTC Business Park landscape regeneration completes on site
We are pleased to have completed the landscape scheme at the RTC Business Park (Rail Technical Centre) in Derby.
LUC was appointed by London and Continental Railways (LCR) as Project Lead and Principal Designer to refresh the tired and out-dated landscape. The site now boasts a relaxing and enticing environment for the 1,100-strong workforce, whilst promoting biodiversity.
The £500k scheme, implemented by Tilhill Forestry, comprises refurbishment of three primary spaces: the northern and main entrances and a large central courtyard.
Our sustainable design works with the existing landscape fabric including on-site re-use of all granite setts and retention of the original 1960s seating in the main courtyard.
Numerous large multi-stem feature trees, a 25m long prairie-style grass garden and a corten raised lawn, mirroring the adjacent existing original pond complete the transformation.
The site was once the largest railway research complex in the world, used as British Rail’s technical headquarters in the 60s. We are delighted to have breathed new life into the landscape.
This project follows our successful landscape scheme at LCR’s headquarters, Southern House in Croydon.
