Ryan Finnigan secures RTPI North West Moss Madden Dissertation Award
LUC is thrilled to announce that Ryan Finnigan, our Consultant Planner, is the recipient of the RTPI North West Moss Madden postgraduate dissertation award for 2021-2022.
The Moss Madden Student Award, in memory of Professor Moss Madden, recognises outstanding dissertations from accredited planning courses.

This year's winner, Ryan Finnigan from the University of Manchester, explored 'Second-Home Tourism and Sustainable Rural Communities in North Wales: A Case Study of the Llanengan Community.'
Ryan's research, impressively supported by interviews, GIS, and data analysis, recommended better control and management of second homes. The study emphasised the need for locally empowered policies to address the impact of second-home tourism on rural sustainability.
His insightful approach and well-reasoned recommendations set him apart, earning Ryan not only the prestigious award but also a cash prize and a framed certificate.
LUC congratulates Ryan on this remarkable achievement, contributing to the legacy of planning research and education.
