Saint Cloud Way redevelopment receives planning approval
LUC is delighted to announce that RBWM’s Maidenhead Development Management Committee has resolved to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of Saint Cloud Way in Maidenhead. The committee voted in favour of the scheme, which ultimately went through with strong support from officers.
The development is a landscape-lead residential scheme which centres around strengthening connections to important local green assets. This includes enhancing pedestrian links to Maidenhead Town Centre.
The scheme focuses on redeveloping a brownfield site close to the town centre with the introduction of 440 residential units. A series of community-focused spaces and green links will surround the units, providing an enhanced public realm.
A strong North-South route through the site formally connects residential areas immediately North of the site with the Town Centre. An East-West route also provides pedestrian priority between the open spaces of Kidwells Park and the Moor to the East.
A robust materials palette defines both routes, supported by soft landscape strategies. These strategies will help to reinforce the character of the public realm.
Well-defined ground floor private amenity spaces open out directly onto the public realm to activate the streets in all cases. These spaces include seating, playable furniture and routes of further interest, with opportunities for social interaction.
