Samuel Cortis presents Mark Turnbull Travel Award at LIS AGM
Samuel Cortis, Consultant Landscape Architect at LUC, spoke at Landscape Institute Scotland‘s Annual General Meeting last month.
He presented his portfolio for community-led urban transformations in Europe, for which he won the Mark Turnbull Travel Award.
The portfolio is titled ‘Social Spaces Framework’ and examines how community-focused landscapes can shape development strategies for Scotland. It draws from examples of collective social spaces in France, The Netherlands, and Germany.
At LUC, Samuel has worked on harbour and waterside regeneration, green infrastructure, housing masterplans and public realm designs. His design work continues to prioritize communities and their sense of ownership over social spaces.
The Award is given to Landscape Architects whose work is inspired by case studies from outside the UK. In doing so, it aims to foster innovative design to address Scotland’s landscape challenges.
It is named after Mark Turnbull, one of Scotland’s most eminent Landscape Architects, and winner of the Landscape Institute’s Gold Medal Award.
