LUC co-hosts SEA conference at Oxford Brookes University
LUC helped deliver a 2-day conference on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) this week. Held at Oxford Brookes University, the event was attended by local planning authorities, consultants, academics and statutory consultation bodies.
The programme involved a mixture of presentations and interactive workshops, two of which were co-led by LUC. Taran Livingston (Director of Environmental Planning) led a workshop looking at the issue of ‘reasonable alternatives’ in SEA. Juliette Young (Associate Director, Environmental Planning) co-led a workshop on evaluating impact significance.
The second day was chaired by LUC’s Jeremy Owen (Director of Environmental Planning). As lead landscape architect for the new campus, our Director of Landscape Architecture Richard Hannay led a tour of the scheme.
The conference was a valuable opportunity to debate some of the key challenges and opportunities associated with SEA and to share best practice.
