Season’s greetings! Take a look back over 2017 at LUC
Season’s greetings from LUC!
2017 has been a great year. In May, we opened an office in the Lancaster Environment Centre at Lancaster University which would become the base for our new Director of Strategic Development Jon Abbatt. Jon joined the company to expand and strengthen our existing services.
A month later, we opened a second new office in Manchester and welcomed three talented new members to our Landscape Design team – Tom Jonson, Jacqueline Whitworth-Allan and Chris Cox.
This completed our north of England team, so we introduced our new additions formally.
In the summer, we celebrated our expansion into the north of England by hosting a party at King Street Townhouse in Manchester, welcoming LUC colleagues, clients and fellow professionals in the environmental industry in the local area. We enjoyed drinks, canapés and the stunning views over Manchester from our roof terrace venue.
We continued with our celebrations by promoting 19 members of our talented team across all disciplines and offices.
November saw the first ever LUC conference which was held at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. The conference was on the barriers to housing in Greater Manchester and it was attended by around 70 architects, local authorities, charities and academics. We enjoyed talks from Salford’s City Mayor, the TCPA, White Arkitekter, Urban Splash, the HCA and Sheffield Hallam University.
Throughout the year, we won 17 awards! It was nice having our hard work acknowledged by the Landscape Institute, RIBA, RTPI and New London Architecture. Click here for the full list of the awards we won this year.

We got through all of this on top of completing many exciting and challenging projects. See our updated projects page to learn about what we’ve been up to.
We look forward to working with you in 2018.
