£3.1 million Sport England investment secured for Doncaster Future Parks
The Doncaster Future Parks project has been awarded £3.1m in investment from Sport England following receipt of final cabinet sign-off from Doncaster Council.
The project seeks to embed parks and open spaces into the fabric of the town’s future growth, promoting behavioural changes to tackle physical inactivity with associated improvements to the green environment.
LUC’s Landscape Management team was commissioned by the Council to develop a set of evidence-based interventions in support of the scheme.
The resulting proposals aim to trigger a shift in the approach to green space provision and challenge the current social norms in Doncaster relating to inactivity.
Working alongside CFP, bespoke park plans were developed for 15 parks within the Borough with delivery of the improvements proposed over the next five years.
