LUC reports strong growth in 2018

We are pleased to report our turnover is up 15% for the year ended 31 December 2018, reaching over £10 million for the first time in the company’s history. Operating profit increased to £436,522, a rise of nearly 40%.

Jeremy Owen, Managing Director, said: “I am delighted with the way the company has continued to progress and grow despite political and economic uncertainties. We have delivered another strong set of financial results, and our balance sheet and order book both look very healthy. We are passionate about delivering high quality services to our clients. This commitment to quality has once again been recognised by a number of industry awards during the year, and we were thrilled to be named Planning Consultancy of the Year by the RTPI early in 2019.

“I am particularly pleased that our gender equality of representation, progression and opportunity led to a reduction in our gender pay gap during 2018. We are equally keen to improve the diversity of our workforce to better reflect the communities within which we work, which is one of our priorities for the year ahead.

“The country faces huge challenges in delivering desperately needed homes, addressing the enormous challenge of climate change, and safeguarding and enhancing the environment which is vital to support both health and wellbeing and an economy that is sustainable in the long-term. The Government has identified the importance of the environment, natural capital and net biodiversity gain in defining policies and when delivering development, which we strongly welcome.

“LUC is very well placed to help deliver this agenda. We have a huge wealth of knowledge and experience built up over many years across areas such as masterplanning and urban design, planning for renewable energy, defining and appraising spatial options for growth for local plans, green infrastructure, and individual development projects. Our programme of investment in digital and on-line technology and internal R&D projects is helping us to become ever more responsive to clients’ needs, improve efficiency, and the quality and accessibility of our outputs.”

The diversity of our work is illustrated by recent projects such as: landscape design, planning and ecology inputs to the new campus masterplan for the University of Northampton; our work on the updated Landscape Character Assessment for the South Downs; designing a highly successful new roof garden in the heart of the City of London; a green infrastructure audit for Bristol City Council BID; and planning advice for Billia Croo, a wave test site off Orkney.
