LUC working with University of Bristol on Climate Emergency research
LUC has teamed up with students at the University of Bristol on a research project. The research looks at how Local Authorities are addressing the climate emergency.
The project will help LUC and others gain a better understanding of what actions Local Authorities around the country are taking to act upon their climate emergency declarations and provide examples of good practice for dissemination.
Local Authorities have a key role to play in addressing the climate challenge, and numerous councils across the country have declared Climate Change emergencies, pledging to become carbon neutral by 2030-2050.
Local planning authorities are also increasingly being held to account, with climate performance likely to be of growing importance in assessing the soundness of Local Plans.
