University of Glasgow's Western Campus among Pineapples Award finalists
We are excited to announce that the University of Glasgow's Western Campus has been shortlisted for the Place in Progress award at the 2024 Pineapples Awards.
The university enlisted ARUP and LUC to aid in expanding its historic campus in Glasgow's West End onto the former site of the Western Infirmary Hospital.
This £1billion project is one of the most significant regeneration initiatives in the Glasgow city region, featuring multiple new faculty buildings and various public spaces.
As part of the site infrastructure delivery team led by ARUP, LUC undertook responsibility for designing all landscape and public realm elements associated with the project. Our design includes the integration of new streets, lanes, and significant civic spaces, notably a large square at the heart of the proposed development.
"I'm thrilled to see this project receive this recognition from the Pineapples judges. Ensuring an approach that complemented the University's 'People, Place, Purpose' Strategy', was integral to our design approach. We are really pleased that the spaces that we have designed are now being enjoyed by students, staff and the wider community".

The finalists and winning projects will be presented at The Pineapples Party on the 16 May.
