Welsh Government appoints LUC to Renewable Energy Developers Programme

The Welsh Government has appointed LUC to its Renewable Energy Developers Programme (RED).

The programme will deliver environmental assessments for several key renewable energy projects in Wales.

LUC will work alongside WSP, Mott MacDonald, Temple, Dulas, JCTR and Axis to identify and deliver the projects. The group will provide several specialist services including environmental impact, transport, planning and heritage.

The RED Programme will develop wind projects on public land. This initiative promotes the Welsh Government's commitment to producing renewable energy. The programme will lead the way to having a publicly owned renewable energy developer in the UK.

Experts from LUC will work on securing the required planning consent orders to implement energy projects. They will advise on the plans' various planning, landscape and cultural heritage elements.

“We are proud to be working alongside WSP, Mott MacDonald and the other members of the consortium to help deliver the Welsh Government's ambitious renewable energy projects. For almost 60 years, LUC has been at the forefront of its work to tackle the climate crisis through our work and expertise in environmental planning. The RED Programme is a great opportunity for us to make a difference.”
