LUC facilitates ‘Wildlife in the City’ masterclass
Our Director of Landscape Architecture Jennette Emery-Wallis presented a ‘Wildlife in the City’ Apprentice Masterclass last week, alongside Royal Parks officers and Guild members. The session was held for horticultural trainees at the ‘Look Out’ Education Centre in Hyde Park.
Jennette led a session on ‘The Lost River’, a current Royal Parks project to restore a section of the Tyburn Brook which once flowed through Hyde Park. The project will also create wetland habitats to help manage run-off and flooding, reduce demands on the existing drainage system, improve water quality and supply to the Serpentine, increase biodiversity by providing varied habitats for wildlife, increase levels of green infrastructure and provide focus for outdoor classroom activities.
The day was a great success and The Royal Parks are planning similar masterclasses for the future.
