LUC supports wind farm projects led by Wales’ state-owned energy developer with landscape, heritage and EIA services

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru has announced the first three sites for new state-backed wind farms across Wales.

The developments aim to accelerate the country’s transition to clean energy, with support from leading Welsh- and UK-based environmental consultants.

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru selected three initial locations: Glyn Cothi in Carmarthenshire, Carreg Wen in Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Clocaenog Dau on the Conwy-Denbighshire border.

Combined, these sites could power around 350,000 homes and support/create over 650 construction jobs.

LUC is proud to support this ambitious programme by delivering expert landscape, heritage and environmental planning services.

We are also creating 3D interactive models for selected sites to help communicate proposals and support engagement.

LUC is working alongside consultants including WSP, Mott MacDonald, Temple and Dulas to ensure high-quality and responsible development.

These first projects represent the start of Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru’s mission to deliver 1GW of publicly owned renewable energy on government land by 2040.

Public engagement events will begin later this year, with planning applications expected in 2027.
