LUC was proud to sponsor the Academy of Urbanism's ‘Quality of Life’ event in Manchester on 4 October 2024.
Our involvement was an exciting honour, and our teams gained so much from the day, which focused on remaking the post-industrial city for the younger generation.
The programme for the event was packed full of speakers, who tackled progressive thinking around:
- degendering our cities
- creating a more inclusive built environment
- adapting our cities to new generations and new behaviour
- Land use as the mother of travel demand and building blocks of movement
Our Associate Historic Environment Consultant, Owen Barton spoke about heritage, culture and our cities through the concepts of 'stories and sameness', and how this knowledge can be used to shape future placemaking for people, places and nature.
It was also a great opportunity to pass this expansive thinking to some of the next generation of LUC's team.
