Breckland Council has granted planning permission for Statkraft's innovative Necton Greener Grid Park in Norfolk.
LUC produced a Landscape and Visual Appraisal, Environmental Colour Study and planting mitigation measures.
We worked with Avian Ecology and landscape officers to ensure the project meets high environmental standards.
Statkraft, Europe's largest renewable energy generator, will construct the facility to enhance grid stability. This will increase the amount of renewable energy that can be delivered to the grid and reduce the need for energy from fossil fuels.
The Necton Greener Grid Park is designed to minimise its impact on the landscape. LUC influenced the positions of the structures in the landscape and designed landscape mitigation/enhancement measures.
We undertook the colour study to inform suitable colours for the buildings and proposed planting designed to reflect woodlands typical of the area and aid screening of the development.
Construction begins this winter and will take approximately 18 months.
Once operational, it will also provide a £20,000 annual community fund for local environmental projects.
LUC is proud to support Statkraft's efforts towards a more sustainable energy future.
